Oil Boom
A floating device used to contain oil on water, formed into a U-shape and towed downwind to trap the oil within its barrier.
Skimmer
A skimmer reads and stores credit card data from magnetic strips and is also used to remove oil from water, though debris can reduce its effectiveness.
Response Boat
The 45-foot response boat-medium is a versatile vessel used for rapid Coast Guard missions, patrols, and training from shore stations.
Vaccum Truck
A vacuum truck is a tank truck equipped with a pump that pneumatically sucks liquids, sludge, or slurries into its tank, often from underground locations.
Dispersant Pump
Oil spill dispersant spray systems are portable, lightweight units that can be quickly mounted on tugs and other vessels for rapid response to marine oil spill emergencies.
Storage Tank
A storage tank is designed to store liquids, primarily used in the petroleum industry, but also in sectors like food (oil storage) and fertilizer.
Absorbent
Absorbents are insoluble materials used to recover liquids by absorbing or adsorbing them. They retain liquids within their molecular structure, causing the material to swell by 50% or more.
Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)
Wastewater treatment removes contaminants from wastewater and converts it into effluent that can safely re-enter the water cycle.
